How much percent of a fish pond is supposed to be covered with plants?
My filter is becoming clogged more often now and I know that its not the filter. Right now about 75% of my fish pond is covered by plants. They are different types of plants like lilies and other typical plants.

The more plants the better. They do a wonderful job cleaning the water and creating shelter for the fish and their food .
They stop light getting to the water to create algae, they feed on the nitrates to starve the algae. They look wonderful and when they flower they really brighten the enviroment.
Fish need them to provide oxygen in the water and to remove carbon dioxide. They provide a breeding enviroment for the fish when they spawn and a hiding place for the fry. Insects lay their eggs on them and the fish feed on the eggs and young insects. Look after your pond plants and the pond will do well.
How can you say that your filter is getting clogged and it is not the filter? Of course it is your filter. Buy a larger one, or go online and find instructions for building one. You can make your own sponge filter for very cheap. If you have the right size filter for your waste load, it will not be clogging all the time. You have a good quantity of plants, I would not add or reduce them.
